This is correct. Because they are a new and upcoming thing, along with the fact that Android has its own sub-culture now, manufacturers are selling them at tremendous profits. While I believe that they will be the laptops of the future, so to speak, at this time they are tremendously convenient and have many pluses, but are in no way a substitute of a quality laptop available for the same price.

Look at the upper-line models with 32 GB of storage space and we’re at the same price as the laptop we just purchased with a 17.3″ LED back-lit display, an AMD A6 3400 Quad-core (35wt) CPU, 6GB RAM, 640GB Hard Disk, web-cam & mic, BlueRay player/DVD & CD Player/burner, HDMI output, and more.

The laptop a different type of device; its larger, heavier and a less convenient for ‘at the spurn of the moment’ type usage. Its also infinitely more powerful, faster, has many times more resources, greater flexibility, capability, and capacity. Neither my wife or I are too lazy to grab it when we want/need to use it.

I would love to purchase a nice Android tablet, and when the $499 ASUS and Acer 32 GB tablets are competing with the $269 – $299 netbooks, I will happily do so.

I have to disagree with this review…as a student, I love the functionality of having an ultra-portable form of Windows; mobile operating systems are flashy and easy to use, but that doesn’t mean they’re best for productivity.

Dislike the size? Then use the control panel to increase the text and icon size to whatever suits you. This is a fantastic machine with fantastic specs, and it can outclass any eReader, iPad, or tablet on the market.

I just received my W500 today.

Yes, Windows 7 can be a bit difficult to to fat finger, but I LOVE this device. I have a Xoom an Ipad, color nook, and a host of other tablets/pcs. This is the best by far.

The convenience far outweighs the shortcomings of the desktop OS. It is great hardware.

When Microsft releases a tablet OS. I’ll load it.

I was surprised as to how well it played RIFTG. I did not use the docking station, just a mouse.

I finally got to the level of danger above level 8-10 and was so excited to see the golden egg, and nothing happened. I was so disappointed, can’t believe I worked that hard and when I thought I had mastered the whole game. NOTHING! I was not happy.
