30 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
Sky today has the conditions for the monsoon to move towards Delhi. The low pressure zone in Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan has wide area to cover. This low pressure area will play an important role from the point of view of equilibrium. The basic rules of equations come in direct play now. Let’s not confuse you. I have been writing about weather in easiest terms which can be understood even by 3rd grade student. As most of the people do not care about scientific names. All they want to know if it would hot or cool weather in Delhi. The point is, Delhi is will continue to receive the water vapor filled sky. The conditions and the path is clear for the monsoon to move now. Will it rain today? No. But there are strong possibilities that rains will hit Delhi in next 24-36 hours plainly. The weather conditions change so fast that it is not right to blame the scientists and experts. There is no reasons with the long range monsoon to fail. The local conditions make lot of difference to what you see in sky above Delhi. I am not dealing with statistical mess. I write what I see in sky scan of everyday. The day is going to be hot and humid in the first half and evening and night will be cooler and more clouds.
=========================
29 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
Delhi will get cloud cover for today. Again this is not monsoon yet. Monsoon is not finding the route to Delhi. Monsoon is close to 800 to 900 km away from Delhi. The clouds you see in the sky above Delhi, are from the same system explained yesterday. These are part of northern disturbances which is originating from China region. The tail of this system is keeping Delhi’s sky filled. So what we get today, we get humid day and hot after afternoon. The night is going to be colder. And there is no major system to cause storms or typhoons. The wind speed would be in the range of 8 to 20km per hour. And the temperature average is going to be around 40c. Again a day with mild weather but its not monsoon. Monsoon is not finding the low pressure zone to move into. Wait for more days. Until monsoon arrives, the northern disturbance would give us relief for next few days and this week. It is expected that delayed monsoon will tough Delhi in next week. Weather gods are favoring Delhi with mild weather for now for very different reasons.
=========================
28 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
Today, Delhi woke up with rain and clouds in the sky. Well, what ever you are seeing in the sky for now, is not monsoon. These are again northern disturbances reaching Delhi and adjacent areas. This system of clouds is not local as it has originated from the larger system which has head over China, Mongolia and Southern Russia. The same system has its tail in the sky of Delhi. These clouds and rains are fragile in nature and if local conditions are suitable, they can remain for many hours. The problem is, the western side from Delhi, ei. Rajasthan, Haryana has low pressure which can make it sunny again in Delhi. Enjoy the mild weather for days ahead. But this rain does not have the grounding in monsoon. It is very much fragile and these clouds do not have continuous streams.
=========================
27 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
High level of water content in the sky with vapors will give us illusion of sky being cloudy. The thin and thick cover exists beginning from Delhi and extending over Haryana and Rajasthan. I am seeing the satellite scan which was released at 4:30 or so. No heavy clouds are seen. Some patches are reaching Delhi as well and will be visible during the day. It is not going to be heavy rain today. It is still weak system to cause major changes. Monsoon has become scattered system now. A large patch of cloud will enter western coasts today. After that it is for now, clear sky over the sea. The sea surface temperature data is still holds good for forming the clouds quickly. The south-west monsoon is moving with slow speed. Day in Delhi will see mild weather today. I really like to read what others sites are saying about weather but most of them are unreliable. I trust what I see in the satellite scan. The day will have high humidity with temperature touching 40c and will keep you indoor during the noon.
=========================
26 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
The sky has the mix of low and medium pressure zones which is not going to help the movement of monsoon. The monsoon looks scattered not the concentrated or continuous. The sky scan of 4:30 AM reveals that, weather will be mild during the day. The thin sheet of clouds will remain there. Will it rain today? There is no major formation of the clouds that could bring the rain to city. Some of the clouds may reach Delhi giving you 5-10 mins of rain at max. No possibility of any major weather disturbance today. Day is going to be hot and humid with haze in the sky. Expected temperature between 42 and 33c. The low speed winds will keep on blowing during the day. Although It is not very nice weather today but it is not the extreme even.
=========================
25 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
Interesting sky today. The clouds you see in the sky above Delhi, are not part of monsoon. This is a norther disturbance system which is having its tail in sky above Russian and Chinese lands. It is good thing that it reached Delhi. It is covering northern states. If It had been monsoon clouds to reach, Delhi would have been dry for now. Monsoon is moving with slow speed and it is still days behind to reach. Low pressure zone exists below Delhi and in Rajasthan, which may push these norther clouds further. If these northern clouds show further movement, it would be good rain in Delhi. And in mean time, the monsoon clouds will mix with this system. But these clouds are fragile which we are seeing now. This is not common pattern. Monsoon is yet to reach Delhi. Enjoy the cool/humid weather today. If the sky clears today, it will lead to higher humidity. South-West region of India will have rains today and tomorrow as the monsoon clouds hit it.
=========================
24 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
There is some change in the weather pattern for today. It is almost the same as of yesterday except some clouds. Haze, dust, water vapors and humidity again in the sky. The pattern has not changed. There is low pressure zone around Delhi. And there are northern clouds which can reach Delhi today. There is little relief in sight today. It is going to be more over the same. Monsoon looks crazy now. It is loosing its speed and thickness. The Arabian Sea has clear sky for some days. Sea at Bengal side (Bay of Bengal) is having the large patches of the clouds touching the mainland. The system joins the monsoon clouds over Tamilnadu and Andhra forming a local system there. But for Delhi, expect another day which is hot and humid. There are some clouds which can reach Delhi by evening. The low pressure is so poor that it would not let us have the winds of more than 8km Per hour.
=========================
23 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
High humidity and haze in the sky, that is what we are having today. Delhi may get the patchy cloud cover. These clouds are coming over from North-Eastern side from Delhi. Some of them are descending to lower heights. Rest of the sky does have haze, dust and water vapor mixed. The humidity will remain high and it will lead to sweating more. Expect some relief by evening. There can be a storm with dust. Although, it may not rain very heavy today. The thin cloud cover will remain for the rest of the day. In the evening it will create more problems because this haze and dust cover will not let heat escape. The only hope is on the clouds which are coming over from East. They look like the monsoon system but are not part of that. Monsoon is again in the cycle of revival. There will not be much rain in Mumbai for few days.
=========================
22 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
It is slightly better today. Although there is no major change but the small variation of the low pressure zone and parameters is surely positive sign for today. The overall weather condition would be dry and without clouds. So what is the change, the corridor of the low pressure has shifted and narrowed now. The water vapors are still making the color of the sky over Delhi. The small patches of the clouds are visible but not in the continuous formation. The result of vapors touching from monsoon system is that Delhi will not be as hot as yesterday. Delhi people are going to notice the change in the temperature. The overall temperature would remain high but not as much like yesterday. Some clouds may be seen over Delhi. These clouds are not from the monsoon but north-west disturbance. The problem is, the only possibility left of rain for coming days is from the system of the monsoon only. Monsoon has advanced a little but not the way it was expected.
=========================
21 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
The weather will not see the change today. There is possibility of weak monsoon now. It is not moving up. The earlier date of 22nd June covering UP will be missed. The low pressure zone is extended from Delhi to Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Northern UP and MP. This low pressure zone is so well extended that there is no possibility of moving the clouds from monsoon. There is no local disturbance. There are no disturbances visible in western side. Some clouds are descending from Himalayan region to UP but that’s not going to reach Delhi. It is continuous clear sky and does not have anything in sight which could provide some relief to Delhi and adjoining areas. The earlier prediction of having monsoon normal seems ok even now because the Arabian Sea still has good coverage of the system. Yesterday, it was severely hot. It is very difficult to go outside. For people in Delhi, strong caution is advised. Being Monday, avoid unnecessary travel outside. Keep yourself hydrated and covered.
=========================
20 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
There is no exciting news for today. We are entering into the days now which would keep us waiting with low pressure zone but no clouds. The monsoon is taking right path but this sky of Delhi which has high humidity and the corridor or low pressure zone going in north to western region is surely a cause of issues. Very hot day and no rain today.
=========================
19 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
It is going to be very hot day today. There are no clouds. Delhi is surrounded by low pressure zone having no clouds in the surroundings. Expect no rain. Just some scattered one or two patches of clouds. Nothing beyond that.
=========================
18 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
Delhi weather today is going to be dry and with no possibility of the rain. There is low pressure zone and sky is clear. There are no disturbances of the formation of the clouds around Delhi in the direction of west or north. The humidity is going to be high and the temperature will also be high and would remain in the range of 42c and 30c. Some patches of the clouds are possible. But no thunderstorms, no major haze. We are back to the beginning days of the June. The sky scan which is of 4AM shows that Monsoon’s intensity is weak. Although monsoon has covered most of the central and lower part of India now, it would remain so till some more disturbances arrive from the western or south-eastern side. That is going to take time. The date for now fixed by IMD is 22 June for UP to have the monsoon cover. In fact, lower part of the UP is seeing the rains even right now. Mumbai on 18 to 20th June is going to see more of the rain as a large patch of the cloud is going to pass over it. People going to Himalayan Region, have good option as roads will clear because the cloud cover is thinning now.
=========================
17 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
We all have been waiting for some relief from the tough weather. Mumbai is seeing the rains for last few days. For today in Delhi, the sky is almost clean slate. Delhi’s sky is going to see very thin sheet of clouds and water vapors. I am looking at the sat scan of 3:30 AM and the weather chart of means and averages. The monsoon is expected to cover all over UP by 22nd of June. There is low pressure zone around Delhi and there are no western or northern winds or disturbance hitting Delhi. The Monsoon has the way to advance now further because the towards Western side of the Delhi, lies the low pressure zone. The Monsoon does not come in a straight line. I makes a curve and from the western UP side and upper regions, it enters in to Delhi. For last few days, I would say it was luck of Delhi which kept the clouds away. It surprises me to see the data of weather sites, which change their mood so often. I have learnt to not to rely what they say. I trust what I see on sat scan because that does not lie.
=========================
16 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
Delhi will see the clouds all day long. The sky scan points that it may rain a little during the day. The monsoon is reaching Delhi. It is just matter of few days only, it will see rain. The disturbances are meeting in Delhi sky. The humidity will remain high which can lead to sweating.
Thats it for today. Short and crisp. Got very little time today.
=========================
15 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
I have been trying to figure out many things. I barely got time yesterday to update this page. The electricity demand is very high and frequent power cuts make our life tough. So Whats there in store for skies today. The sky has clouds around Delhi. Monsoon clouds and the disturbance from North-West region are meeting and it is creating the push and pull effect with low pressure zones. Monsoon clouds have covered the central and lower part of India. It is just matter of few days only to reach the rains to Delhi region. If I believe the data of several other sites, they are pointing that next three days will be having more clouds. I am surprised to see the data at one major weather site where it revised its forecast for yesterday on the fly. My resources are limited and I do not have access to sophisticated weather predicting systems. But I know well how to read weather charts and sat sky scans. I trust my knowledge. I allow myself to be wrong sometimes but most of the time, I may be near accurate.
=========================
14 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
========================
Today it is bit like clouds are playing hide and seek game with Delhi. This is weird to see that there are very low grade low pressure zone around Delhi. And clouds continue to keep sky empty for the reasons which are local to barely 100 km area or so. Monsoon looks good but it is again the case of few more days. Delhi weather keeps us busy figuring out the methods which can be effective to tell you more about. Yesterday it was evening rain and storm. Today it is with patchy clouds here and there, keeping day again hot.
=========================
13 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
It is interesting sky scan today. I know I am late today but it is just 9 AM this morning. The sky is clear and white with hint of black. Again the water vapors and low haze creates this color. The first half of the day will see no respite from heat. It is the other half of the day which is going to be milder today. Delhi sky will have clouds and increased water vapors. The periphery of 200 km around Delhi has interesting scenario which can lead us to have some or more clouds after 3PM today. Today weather is going to change and by tomorrow you will find that relief has arrived. Monsoon is moving well and its quality and thickness is good. The pre-monsoon rains are expected to happen in the next week. Today, second half of the day and evening will be better than what you see during the first half. The increased humidity can be problematic for the people.
============
This is update at 4M today. It is raining here in Delhi. I did it right again this time.
=========================
12 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The day begins with hot sun and high heat index. You can not stand for long time in the sun. Lets go over to sat scan of sky today. There is low pressure zone in the lower regions from Delhi. These regions cover part of UP and Rajasthan. Some wester disturbances are approaching. It is going to mild to high heat for 2-3 days more. As stated earlier, weather will get to see some clouds around Monday or so. For today, the first half will see clear sky with no relief from heat. The other half of the day will see some patches of the clouds. There is no possibility of rain or thunder storm or dust storm today. Sky is absolutely clear but water vapors may move in to fill the low pressure zone. Thats it for today.
=========================
11 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
There is low pressure zone around Delhi and you will see another hot day today. The Monsoon is advancing and it is better than before. It will cause heavy rains in central and Southern parts of India. The monsoon formation is normal and its path is making right way to reach to Delhi. You may see some rain by next Sunday or early next week. That is going to be pre-monsoon rain. The day is expected to be hot with no rains. There may be patchy clouds here and there but no major overcast. Some of the western water vapors can reach Delhi and the humidity levels may rise again. Bear for some days, the Monsoon will reach Delhi before time.
=========================
10 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The day will see rise in temperature today. There are no chances of rain in Delhi today. You will see clear sky which will not be the white in color. The sky of the color in Delhi changes the color as the water vapors and pollution level makes it so. There will not be dust or haze. Monsoon has finally covered up to central India now. There are chances of more rain in Mumbai. The way monsoon is advancing now, it will not take many days to reach Delhi. You can expect some pre-monsoon rains this weekend or early next week. There is low pressure zone which exists towards south-west corridor and you this low pressure zone can be beneficial if the monsoon moves to this zone. It is raining in North-East regions. One of the questions people ask is why Delhi’s sky has color white. The white color indicates that haze has been formed due to dust particles and humidity levels. When the sky clears after rain, its color is blue.
=========================
9 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
Morning will be pleasant. As the day will progress, the temperature will rise. The sky will be clear from 10 AM onwards. The sky will have patchy clouds in sight. The monsoon has revived again and will hit the western side very soon. The day will be more or less clear. Delhi will return to hot weather in a day or two again. People in Delhi may need to prevent themselves from the heat again. Expect hot and humidity will rise again. There is no major climatic system in sight near or around Delhi for now. the low pressure zone exists but that is in far western side.
=========================
8th June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The day will be filled with the clouds in the sky. The rains may occur during the day. The night temperature will see deviation from the normal towards lower side. The northern disturbance is visible and it will keep weather pleasant today.
=========================
7 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
Weather in Delhi would remain milder for today with strong possibility of rain. Cyclone Phet has advanced further has stretched up to Delhi and more towards North-Eastern side from Delhi. You may not see enough of the sun today. The sky will remain overcast with clouds. By 12 PM IST today, the clouds will be all over Delhi. Expect humidity to rise during evening. Temperature would remain lower than normal. Temperature would remain between 27c and 38c. The rain may occur after 2PM today.
=========================
6 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
Cyclone Phet would form the weather in Delhi for next few days. As I have been telling that it is single system and it has been stretched from western Rajasthan to Delhi and other areas. The clouds you see in the sky above Delhi, are part of cyclone Phet. As I wrote yesterday that there may be some rain. Yes, It rained yesterday evening. Today, the weather will be milder than yesterday. You will see the clouds whole day. The rain may come with the advance of the system from western side. The temperature would remain around normal. The monsoon was weakened by cyclone Phet, is now forming again. It will take at least a week to form it again. The movement to south-west side is good. Expect a nice day for the Delhi people today. Humidity may increase after 1st half of the day.
=========================
5 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
I am seeing the sky scan of 3:00 AM this morning. The cyclone Phet has moved towards North-Eastern side from Oman. Delhi’s weather is going to be mild today. The cool breeze in evening and the rest of day will not be very hot. The temperature will see deviation to lower side of at least 3-5c. This is weekend and it is really good for the people to go out today. Delhi will see more clouds during the day because the cyclone system Phet would move ahead. Its speed is slow but it moving in the direction. Phet does not have the strength to cause damages now but it still has an eye. It has scattered now and its system is wide spread up to Delhi region. Pleasant day for Delhi today.Oh!, rain today! Expect light to moderate rain today in Delhi.
=========================
4 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
Today I got stuck in other situations. I know I am late for today but still I can update this page. Well, today is different story about weather. Delhi woke up with clouds in the sky but those were not enough strong. The whole day passed with haze and dust in the sky. Cyclone Phet has weakened the monsoon. Now the Monsoon is expected to hit Delhi by 1st July. Thats is the date which has been delayed now. Now the real path of monsoon begins when the Met dept would say another thing every day. The prediction of normal monsoon still can hold true. The monsoon is expected to hit Mumbai on 11th June. Monsoon may come to Delhi on July 1st. For tonight, the situation would be little less warm. The sky has cover of clouds. Heading clouds from the Phet are connected to the clouds that you see over the Delhi. It is single system which has head over Delhi and tail in Oman.
=========================
3 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
It is wide spread dust in the atmosphere. The visibility is pretty low, it is less than 150 meters. The cyclone Phet is going to affect monsoon and its strength. According to Met Dept, there are chances of rains today. While, I look at the satellite images, Delhi has the low pressure zone around and some scattered clouds. The local conditions to change during the second half of the day. Heavy dust storm is expected to come by evening. The rain today may occur during the night time. Heavy rains are on the way from western disturbances. These will not be the pre-monsoon rains.
=========================
2 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
Today, Weather is going to be hot during the day. The dust filled sky and there is possiblity of dust storm during the second half of the day. There is very little info for today. Trying to get to the sat image of the day. There are no clouds around. It is just haze today. Delhi is going to get more humidity during the second half of the day and rest of night. Some patches of the clouds can exist during the evening. For today, the sat images are not very clear.
=========================
1 June 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The last day of May, brought good news. Monsoon touch Kerala and there was the first rain of the season. It is expected, it will take close to 20-25 days to reach Delhi. If things remain on the normal path, it will be raining in Delhi around June 20th, 2010 or so. South West part of India is having rain but Delhi has no luck for now. Northern disturbance will take 2-3 days to cool the weather here. There is still snow falling in the upper regions of Himalaya. There may be some patches of clouds during the day. During most of the day, the weather will be hot. Humidity is going to be around 35% or so. There is no low pressure zone seen around Delhi. There are chances that Gujarat, Rajasthan and Western UP may see dust-storm. There is no big change for now. Temperature would remain higher side. The heat and humidity levels are not uncomfortable these days, still your cooler can help you to sleep. Expect rain in Delhi in next 2 days and if that happens, it is not monsoon yet.
=========================
31 May 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The sky scan of 10PM last night point to uncomfortable day ahead. There is a low pressure zone in Haryana and Uttaranchal with no clouds in proximity. It is going to be hot day. The clear sky with high temperature, is what today Delhi is going to get. The situation will remain so till evening. Humidity level is expected to be around 35% which is another problem. Approx speed of the wind is going to be 11km per hour. Take due care when you go out in the sun today. Temperature would go as high as 42c and low will be 29c. The clear sky situation is temporary. Monsoon has forwarded further and is moving on its path. It is sill far away from Delhi. There are no pre-monsoon rains for now.
=========================
30 May 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
Situation is changed a bit today. I am looking at 3 AM chart of the sky. There exists a low pressure zone of 200km radius around Delhi. Winds blowing at the rate of 18km per hour and there are some scattered clouds in the sky at the level of 3000 mts or so. Today, the temperature would remain in the range of 27c to 40c range. Lets come back to conventional questions. Is it going to be too much of heat today? No. The weather will remain light today. There is possibility of light rains. The water vapors will fill the low pressure zone for today. You may experience little bit higher level of humidity. I am trying to be better with each passing day. My experience is predicting weather with the help of weather charts. I am not gifted with weather stations yet. But sky scan of satellite images is as good as a weather station and tools. Right now, the system exists in Russia, Himalayan Region which is touching Delhi. The other water vapors are flowing in from western side. So looks good for today. Expect mild weather for today.
=========================
29 May 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The dry weather is coming back. The low intensity of the winds show that low pressure zone is going away. There exists the clear sky not very far from Delhi, that is lower Rajasthan. The other clouds which came from north are not advancing further. The water vapor cover is thinning again. It points that today by evening the some cloud and rain may occur if the clouds from northern side move. Otherwise, the people in Delhi will have to face the conditions of extreme heat. Monsoon has advanced further and the path is normal for now. Expect some rain by evening and but heat in the first half in Delhi. Thats it for today. There is slight possibility of the rain. There is no local system formation which could bring clouds from somewhere. It all depends upon the northern clouds for now. If it rains in Delhi, it is not going sustain many days. The system is weak, so some rain can happen but do not hope for rains of monsoon type yet.
=========================
28 May 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The good morning and cool breeze greeted people today in Delhi. It is good surprise for the people living in Delhi. How is day going to be today. Lets do some weather science. Well, sky is full of dust today. There are no clouds but sky is covered with thick vapors. There are chances that Delhi and adjoining areas may see dust-storm during the mid day or evening side. For today, the weather will remain like this. Is there a rain today? No in the first half. The low pressure zone exists in eastern Rajasthan. That is the only hope to pull the clouds from northern side. More over, monsoon is again active and you can hope coming days are going to be much cooler. For today, enjoy the fine weather but wear glasses when you ride your bike. It is dust outside and there is chance of dust storm.
=========================
27 May 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
There is good news for today. There is no low pressure zone today. The water vapors have filled the sky. A weak system of thin clouds is moving towards Delhi from Western side. I am seeing the sky scan of 3:30 AM which points to the some relief today but not the rain. The water vapor level will increase the humidity during the second half of the day. Monsoon has formed in right manner. There are no pre-monsoon rain in Delhi for now. The haze will cover Delhi till 2 PM after that the temperature will rise. It is going to be humid day after that. I have limited resources to predict about the weather but I think I am good at telling you how it looks for today and everyday. All three coastal areas are clear of any big change. The monsoon is on normal path although delayed but it is moving right way. The low pressure zone is moving to eastern side which means People in Delhi can expect some relief from the hot weather. But it is fragile and does not have permanent system for few days. It will change through out the day. Some clouds are possible but again I repeat, No rain today.
=========================
26 May 2010 Delhi Weather Update
=========================
The sky scan of 3:30 AM shows no respite for now. There are no clouds. The humidity is going to remain high through out the day. It is another humid and hot day for Delhi. Temperature today will remain around 46 which will feel like 50 due to humidity. Humidity levels are expected around 24% to 30%. There is blank sky today with no patches of clouds. The electricity situation would remain worse in many areas. Combined problems are too much for the people living in Delhi. Monsoon’s new spell has begun and it will take more time to reach the places. Laila cyclone which has gone toward Bangkok now, had impact the strength of the monsoon. The Arabian sea has conditions which are normal now. There is right formation of clouds there. This week is going to be like this for Delhi. There is no major change for today. You must drink lots of water and avoid going in sun without purpose. It is not a good day to go sight-seeing Delhi. It is better to watch a nice movie or read a book at home.
=========================
