Writing is one of the toughest jobs in the world. A writer knows and knows really well that the good writer is a myth because there is no writer who has not faced rejections and returned and unreturned copies with thanks and sometimes no thanks as well. There are many great writers who have made it bookstores and their books are sold in the market and read by thousands of the people. Many people always wonder on the finest qualities which must be present in great writers. If you want to know what it is that which puts one writer above the others then you have to know J.K. Rowling. The road to glory is not easy. It is traveled by thousands but few survive the tough journey. This short case study explores JK Rowling’s Journey from nowhere to the galleries of fame and wealth.

JK Rowling was born in 1965. She lived the life like any other person in the world. Her first marriage took her to Portugal. Some years later, she returned to England with a daughter and a broke marriage. Her life in England was not the same as she had earlier. This time, she required money to support her daughter. The little financial support came from financial aids from government. She started living in a small house and began to write first of her books.

It is not very difficult to imagine her days in England back in 1995 or so. She faced a troubled present, painful past and uncertain future. When the life pains too much and the pain grows beyond the bearable limits, the fire starts its first journey to the soul. It does not burn the person, it burns the old person and the new self emerges. Her painful and very difficult days forced her to do something and it became her ultimate resolution that she has to rise from here and make her life comfortable again. She took writing as a choice to make difference to her world.

A writer has the same mix and plays of luck as anyone else. Being writer is no guarantee that you will be celebrated all over the world. It requires more than being just a writer who writes the words. If things go in your favor, agents pick up your drafts and if things do not work for you, you may be forced to search for day jobs. JK Rowling got her first book published after the rejection from12 publishers. It took nearly one year for the book to get accepted for publishing. First book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone changed everything for her. The effect of this book on publishing industry was noteworthy. Readers returned to book stores to buy her books and it helped the publishing house to gain the loosing ground in the industry.

Her books have been translated in 65 languages and are the most selling books of publishing history. Her books have set many records.

She created a world of her own and created the characters taking inspiration and ideas from her own childhood. Her books are reflection of her early life. She has created the negative characters based upon her fears and her early problems. For example, the dementors are the characters who live in dark places and take away the good qualities from your life. It represents the sadness of the world and how it affects us. Largely, her books present many sequences from her experiences.

Her quest to show the good qualities of humans has been a prevailing theme and the school of magic provides perfect ground to show everything which is or is not expected from the human forms. Harry Potter is still a child and he thinks like a child and knows the plans and games around him. Harry Potter also wishes to see his dead parents. This thought comes from the loss of parents of JK Rowling. Everything, she has written in Harry Potter books, comes either from her childhood or from her struggling days.

Her story is one of the finest tales of from rags to riches stories. Harry Potter is one of the most celebrated brands in the world. Her books and film adaptations have made her wealthy and she appears in the list of richest persons in the world. She changed her life just in 5 years. It required courage and determination to change her life for ever.

After being so much successful, how she feels now. According to reports, she has ended her series of Harry Potter books. She still writes for the kids. She still feels insecure about many things. And she feels sad when media invades her privacy. She is very humble and down-to-earth person. I do not know if someone writes to her, she responds or not. She gets invited to the management schools from all over the world. She is also associated with many charitable organizations. And the most notable is Anti-Poverty fund. Her organization helps the one-parent families. She knows the pains and sadness which comes from fighting the odds when you do not have money to meet ends.

What should she write next? She must create a political hero in her next books. The world needs a political hero at least in the books. She has means and power to create one. She must not stop writing because a writer must show to the world that you can keep making difference to your world and for those who are around you. She is an inspiration to many writers who have talent and need motivation to succeed. Her story of struggle and success explains that you can fight against the challenges and odds. And it just you who can win if you do not quit.
