Tuenti.com is a nice example to observe that a an equivalent of popular English site can also be popular. Tuenti.com is equivalent to Facebook. The site is in Spanish and it has crossed the popularity limits. There are many case studies being written on the success factors for this website.

The major reason behind the success is that it has been made in Spanish and covers very large population which speaks and writes Spanish. The geographical reach played very important role and the similar ideas can play important role when someone plans to offer good services in native’s language. For example Japanese version can also be popular if it reaches to the public which speaks the native language.

Technology poses many challenges for the sites which try to offer the services in non-English language. The character coding is different and databases do have problem storing the written text in other language.

Tuenti has crossed the boundaries of technological challenges and offered the services to Spanish speaking people. The reach is good, viewers and users are available. There seems no reasons why Tuenti could not be successful. It can cover other regions as well.

The similar stories are yet to come from the German and French markets. It will take some time to see the success stories which are Non-US and covered the large part of the world.

The revenue size is most important because the internet traffic is still important to advertisers. Many popular ad networks still prefer to have traffic from US, UK and Canada. Native ad networks in other countries can provide the boost to locally focused services. After all a provider has to survive and the money has to come.

There are many ways to go around the problem but local advertising agencies and the networks will play important role when it comes to success of sites like Tuenti. Someone needs to sell something there in these countries and the traffic needs to be valued.
